Mesh models. How do they realistically represent the objects?

Modern geodetic and cartographic solutions allow for efficient and accurate responses to the diverse needs of customers. In the case of mapping services, vector mapping of objects is especially useful for land development planning, architectural inventories, building measurements, and space arrangement. In the case of reflecting irregular spaces, the best solution is to use Mesh 3D models.

What are the Mesh models?

Mesh models are made of a mesh of triangles or squares overlaid with realistic texture. A given surface is mapped and its accuracy depends on the density of the polygon mesh, which is why it is so important to determine the size of individual triangles. For a more detailed representation of the model surface, a smaller size should be used. All Mesh models can be created using the actual color and texture to best reflect the actual appearance of the object. This is achieved by using a colored point cloud or high-resolution drone photos.

Mesh models are used to create detailed visualizations, calculate the mass of soil or other bulk materials, and for CAD modeling. These types of models are especially useful for architects, surveyors, engineers, or archaeologists.

Below we present a few implementations of OPGK Rzeszów using Mesh models. Our company performs works in the field of broadly understood geodesy and cartography, which include data acquisition by direct measurements in the field, as well as indirect measurements by means of a drone using its equipment and tools.
